TutuCut

A Remotion alternative: write motion in HTML, edit it into video in your browser

No Node.js, no React. HTML / CSS / GSAP motion sits on the same timeline as your videos and images.

TutuCut is a Remotion alternative: write motion in HTML, CSS, Canvas, GSAP or Three.js, edit it on one timeline with your footage in the browser, export MP4. No Node.js or React; the AI can write it too. It can't batch-render thousands of videos from data on a server — Remotion fits that better.

Remotion writes videos as React components: install Node.js, create a project, write code, then render. TutuCut takes another route: a motion clip is just a plain HTML page. CSS animations, Canvas, SVG, GSAP and Three.js all paste straight in, are drawn frame by frame in your browser, and sit on the same timeline as your videos, images and captions, exported as MP4 or GIF.

Your footage can go straight into the motion: write a tutu-asset token in the code to use images, videos, GIFs and fonts from your media library, or use a template with ready-made media slots (live picture-in-picture, photo wall, device mockup…) and drag a video onto it. Everything is processed in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Where Remotion is better, we say so: Remotion can batch-render tens of thousands of videos from data on servers (including AWS Lambda), and we have no batch-rendering API; its React ecosystem is also larger. If you need one video per data row, fully automated, pick Remotion. If you are making one video with motion and want to tweak it while you watch, this is quicker.

FAQ

Can TutuCut open a Remotion project?
No. A Remotion project is React code that is bundled and rendered in Node.js; TutuCut runs plain HTML. To move over, rewrite the animation as one HTML page: draw a frame per time with a GSAP timeline or window.__seek(t), read parameters from __PARAMS__, and reference footage with tutu-asset tokens. Or describe the effect to the AI and let it write one.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Open the page and start: no Node.js, no project setup, no command line. Motion is drawn and exported frame by frame in your browser; your footage and code are not uploaded.
Can the motion use my own videos and images?
Yes. Write a tutu-asset token in the code to use images, videos, GIFs and fonts from your media library, or drag files onto a template’s media slots. A video slot can turn on “With sound”, which adds its audio as a separate clip that follows the motion. If a file goes missing you see a placeholder and a prompt to relink it, and export is blocked rather than quietly exporting a version with missing pictures.
Can it batch-produce hundreds of videos?
Not automatically. TutuCut edits one video at a time. If you need to generate hundreds or thousands of videos from a spreadsheet, Remotion’s server / Lambda rendering fits better.
Does Remotion cost money? Does TutuCut?
Under Remotion’s official license, individuals, companies of up to 3 people and non-profits can use it for free; larger companies need a company license. TutuCut is free to edit and export, with no watermark and no signup.
