A speed change leaves the clip silent, which suits a time-lapse: the original audio at 16x would be unlistenable anyway. Add music afterwards if you want a soundtrack.
FAQ
How fast should I go?
Depends how slow the subject is. Clouds work at 8x–16x; a person working is usually enough at 4x.
Will the file be much smaller?
Usually yes, because there is far less footage. A 16x time-lapse is roughly a sixteenth of the length.
Why is there no sound?
Matching audio to a new speed needs resampling the browser cannot finish, and sped-up audio is rarely wanted here. Use the "add music" tool afterwards.
Does it drop frames?
It changes how long each frame is shown rather than discarding them, so the motion stays as smooth as the source allowed.
How long does it take?
Roughly proportional to the source, since every frame passes through the encoder once.
